On April 18, 1934, the 7A, the first model in the Citroën Traction Avant series, was introduced. Other models followed, such as the 11CV in 1938, which had 56 hp (41 kW). The CV stands for Cheval fiscal and the number assigns the vehicle to a French motor vehicle tax class. The bodies of the TAs differed only slightly. They all had front-wheel drive, front doors that opened to the rear and a windscreen that opened downwards. The Traction Avant was also characterized by features that are still standard in automobile construction today, such as a self-supporting body.
