The Mercedes 230 went into production in 1937 as the successor to the 200 model. Longer and wider than its predecessor and equipped with a four-speed gearbox but with the same six-cylinder in-line engine and built on its chassis, the Mercedes 230 reached a top speed of 116 km/h thanks to its larger displacement and more horsepower.
