In the late 1960s, the need arose to move the pilot training of Western European military pilots back to Europe. At the same time, older models of light fighter-bombers had to be replaced in both France and Germany. This led to a joint project between the two countries, which was ultimately awarded to Dassault Aviation and Dornier. On October 26, 1973, the first Alpha Jet prototype took off from the French Istres airfield for a test flight. After a two-year test phase, series production of the twin-jet training aircraft and light fighter-bomber began in 1975. Dassault in particular also pushed for the export of the aircraft, but with increased combat effectiveness with more powerful engines and the ability to carry modern weapons such as air-to-air missiles for self-defense. However, in the course of the 1980s - despite numerous improvement projects - no more orders were received and production was stopped. In the autumn of 1980, the Patrouille de France chose the Alpha Jet as the successor to the Fouga Magister for its aerobatic missions. It is also flown by their Portuguese counterpart, the Asas de Portugal. Model with 387 parts, printed blocks and movable elements. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 25.5 x 19 x 10.5 cm
