The Bell-Boeing V-22 is a tilt-rotor aircraft introduced in 2005 with the ability to take off and land vertically (VTOL). This type of aircraft combines the properties of a helicopter (hovering) and those of a conventional fixed-wing aircraft (greater range and speed). For horizontal flight, the 3 propeller blades of the two transverse rotors located at the end of the wings and the associated engines are tilted forward by 90°. It can also be used like a STOL aircraft on very short runways. Disadvantages of this type of aircraft compared to a helicopter are the high procurement costs, high fuel consumption and noise emissions.
