The Patrol Boat River (PBR) was an American patrol boat for use in shallow waters and on rivers that was used in the Vietnam War from 1966. It had a light, stable hull made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic and was equipped with a Browning twin machine gun M2HB in the bow, an M2HB in the stern and a Raytheon reconnaissance radar in front of the open bridge. The two 255 hp Detroit diesel engines transferred their power to two water jet drives, allowing the boat to reach a top speed of 28.5 knots (approx. 53 km/h).
