After studying graphic design and working at an advertising agency, the German artist Birgit Tanck works as a freelance illustrator and cartoonist. As a true northerner, she spends a lot of time working with ports, rivers and the sea, but she also knows a lot about the south: her drawings have appeared in both the Hamburger Abendblatt and the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
