Schleich Lioness
Lions roam the African savannah in prides made up of related females, their cubs, and a single male. When a male reaches adulthood, he is expelled from the pride and must find his own group. Lionesses hunt in teams. Together they can subdue large prey such as zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, and even young elephants, but they will also eat the leftovers from other animals' meals. Lions sleep up to twenty hours a day, and both males and females defend their pride against foreign intruders. A lion's roar is very loud and can be heard up to five miles away. Lions roar to communicate with each other and to scare off intruders. Males and females have light brown fur. Males have thick, brown manes that grow longer and darker as they age.
