Panda bears start out small. Extremely small, in fact. When they are born, they weigh just 100 g. That is as much as a bar of chocolate or a small yoghurt. Apart from kangaroos, no other mammal gives birth to babies that small. After four weeks, the little ones have their typical black and white fur, and after 6-8 weeks they open their eyes for the first time. They stay with their mother for around two years and are very playful. Their mother likes to roll them gently back and forth and wrestle with them lovingly.
