How does painting by numbers work?

Painting by numbers pictures work according to a very easy concept. On a canvas, a motif is divided into numbered fields, which are colored in to complete the entire work.

Each number corresponds to a specific color, which is also indicated on the respective paint containers. This means you can see at first glance which color belongs in which field.
