Long live all babies: May 2nd is Baby Day!

Hurray! May 2nd is Baby Day! The cute little earthlings should actually be celebrated every day - and I'm sure that in many cases they are - but today this holiday is even on the international calendar. And rightly so! So: Happy International Baby Day to all the babies in the world. We just love you!

Babies are not only cute, they embody new beginnings and innocence, the good on a planet that also has its downsides. They carry hope and make their parents better people. They change everything, turn everything upside down and sometimes, especially when it comes to sleep, they get the last reserves out of us!  As a mother, I often seriously asked myself: What did I actually do before? And I didn't really find an answer, I just remembered that I felt exhausted before that too. Haha, all I can say is, I had no idea!

But what is the lack of sleep or the pain of childbirth, which should not be underestimated, compared to the baby itself? I will never forget how my babies felt in the first few hours in the world, how soft they were, even softened by the amniotic fluid, as if they had just been peeled out of the egg, so new. I will never forget the feeling I had when I looked at them and slowly realized how authentic they were. Never their smell or how they threw their little arms in the air or smiled in their sleep. Or chewed.

How do you celebrate baby's day?

You don't have to celebrate your own baby, it can also be a grandchild, niece or nephew or anyone you know that you are showing your admiration for today!

Like many crazy holidays, Baby Day has its origins in the USA. However, it is unknown why or by whom the holiday was created. I have researched for you how it is traditionally celebrated:

  • carry the baby a lot today
  • take a walk in the sun with the baby
  • play with the baby and sing to him
  • tickle the baby and make it laugh with nonsense
  • make him a bracelet with the letters of his name (LINK?)
  • give him a mobile (LINK), a beautiful light (LINK) or a comfort blanket (LINK)
  • If you are talented in such things, you can also sew him something or crochet a pair of socks
  • Be creative when it comes to making your baby happy!

No matter how you do it, Baby Day is all about making sure our little ones have fun!

Anyway, I was in the basement with my children yesterday. We picked out the cutest baby clothes from the old boxes and washed them. We made a little package out of them. Baby Mathilda was born on our street three weeks ago. She is soooo cute and our children are happy that there is now an official reason to go over there again.

Whether you have a baby yourself, like I loved having them, or you just love babies: enjoy the day and have a great celebration!

I'd love to hear your thoughts about babies. Just write them in the comments, I'm looking forward to it!

Your Bylle
